What is Rucking? For me, as a former endurance enthusiast who has ran multiple marathons and participated in a lot of endurance events, rucking was another way to challenge myself. The GORUCK events range from beginner friendly beer drinking (the 5 pack 5k), all the way up to “Selection,” that will challenge the mental toughness and fortitude of any Special Forces Operative. As I eased out of my endurance phase I started partaking in more of the fun GORUCK events. I would ruck with my dog, we would pick a city to explore and go ruck around the city, join a firearms day, and now, we throw our rucks on when we take the dogs for a walk. This gets the heartrate up, burns 3x the amount of calories as regular walking, and increases non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). Which is just a fancy way of saying, it helps to burn more calories when you’re doing nothing. Rucking improves posture, makes you stronger, and is non-impact (unlike running, which I still love). For more information, explore this link here, and visit GORUCK.com
Over the years we have participated in quite a few GoRuck events.
We have made a lot of friends from rucking and have been able to share it with our loved ones as an attribute to their health and wellness. Once per month we host a ruck out in the community and on Saturday mornings we host GORUCK style workouts, both of which are free to the community. So come meet some friends and do some fun work. It is a good day to be alive, don't mess it up.
